Decided to head to Minster despite the offshore forecast as it is my nearest bit of sea and I was after flat water. When I arrived the water was very flat, someone had launched on a 9.5m and was just about getting going, the wind gradually built so I rigged my biggest sail, a 7.5m. Wind was very gusty unless you went further out to sea but that was a bit more risky due to the offshore wind. Got some good planing runs in totally overpowered in the gusts and hopelessly underpowered in the lulls. At times I was really struggling to hold onto the 7.5m so I went in and changed down to a 5m for an easy life, this was a good decision as when I hit the water again it started raining heavily and picked up a bit and I was flying. The rain then stopped and the wind did as well, I had a very slow sail back in, hung round a bit but gave up waiting as I had to get home, as I left the wind had picked up again and everyone was out and planing again in what looked like more consisten wind.
All in all a good day and now I will definitely consider going to Minster on other offshore days for the nice flat water with plenty of others around for safety.
